Excellent food.
Well worth the stop if you’re passing by. We stayed at the caravan park for a night and had dinner hear. The meals were simply wonderful. Nothing to fault. Service was excellent and if the weather is on your side sit out front and enjoy the sea breeze.

I took a few of my kids (2 adult aged and 1 teenager) there for a lunchtime meal. Nice old style pub with a modern feel. Clean and tidy. The service was great and a great selection of food on the menu. Between the 4 of us, we had a variety of beef, chicken, and seafood dishes. Everyone was very happy with the meals, and they were sent out from the kitchen pretty quickly. Prices were reasonable, and portion size was really good. All up, I'll definitely be going back and can recommend them to anyone travelling through or staying at Cowell for a great meal.

Always love eating here, however last night was the best meal we have had in quite a long time from anywhere. Service was great, didn't have to wait long at all for our meal. But the food was terrific. The pulled beef Burger was amazing and the chicken Florentine was exceptional. Couldn't recommend it more!!

$139.00 seafood platter was disappointing, with stingy portions of chips and salad, and some other questionable elements as per below. Overpriced for what we got, which came out at about $70.00 per head. With the dozen oysters costing $35.00, that is $100 for the rest of this paltry platter.

We think some staff were new as there were overlooked items which were part of the platter. The garlic sauce that some prawns came in - I should say, were drowned in - was so salty it was inedible. The crumb on the calamari was undercooked and a bit pasty with the unusual flavour overpowering the squid, although the calimari was fairly tender. The whiting was lovely but the crumb detracted from the beautiful fish- perhaps a light batter would be better? Fewer oysters and more fresh prawns and salad would enhance this menu item, with perhaps one of the fish fillets grilled.

This platter is advertised as enough for two to three people. Absolutely not. Has the potential to be really nice, but missed the mark on the evening we sampled it.

Tourists, be aware that there are a couple of hours between lunch and dinner service; food does not run all afternoon so a late lunch isn't an option. We waited two hours on a Sunday, really looking forward to a seafood platter in an area that is supposedly known for its seafood. Unfortunately, this one didn't showcase the quality of the produce.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartments one block from the hotel. The Apartment was clean comfortable, spacious with undercover car parking. ||Dining at the hotel as group of 6 people was enjoyable. Service was prompt, polite with helpful friendly staff. ||The hotel offered a generous and reasonably priced menu and our group enjoyed a variety of starters including fresh oyster kilpatrick, soup, mushroom croquettes and pork dumplings. All were very good with the oysters and croquettes the standouts. We would order any of those starter dishes again. ||For mains we enjoyed salt and pepper squid, fish and chips with salad, slow cooked pork belly as well as beef schnitzels. The squid was excellent and flavours of the pork belly spot on. I would have preferred a little more crispness to the pork however was still a good flavour and generous service. ||We didn’t have room for desserts.||Would dine here again.

Very delightful pub, we stopped here on our trek back to Melbourne, I got the chicken Florentine which was absolutely tip top 👌

I can also recommend the wedges my wife has stated one of the best wedges she has had in her lifetime.

We stopped for Sunday lunch. It was SO good. The freshest seafood we have ever had. And very friendly service too. Well done guys…simply the best!! Hope to return one day again for good old fashioned hospitality and the best seafood on Eyre Peninsula.
