Great tour thanks to Matt, our wonderful guide. Beautiful scenery that you don’t get to appreciate when traveling by car. The visits to local merchants were also very appreciated. Matt provided so much interesting information and was just so nice (and so very patient). Thanks again Matt!

Fabulous tour. We went with 4 couples and there was something for everyone. Dan was very happy to adjust itinerary for special requests, and there was lots of time to explore. As a kiwi who loves Australian red wine I was in heaven! Accommodation was excellent. I couldn't think of a better way to explore this lovely area of Australia.

(This is an in depth review!)

I booked the Hahndorf Bike & Wine tour for myself (late 20s) my mum and her friend (mid to late 50s) in mid April and it was an absolutely highlight of our trip to Adelaide! I recommend this A+ experience and would certainly return and try another tour next time we’re in Adelaide.

Bikes: I have a cycling background so I opted to ride my own gravel bike, while my mum and her friend used the supplied E-bikes. The e-Bikes themselves were good quality mid-range hybrid bikes and in good repair. I secretly wished I’d opted for an e-bike too!

Guide: Our tour guide was Dan and he was fantastic - very friendly and patient. He explained to each person how to use their bike. Perfect balance of friendly and social, knowledgeable about the local area whilst giving us space to enjoy and chat amongst ourselves.

Route: a local loop about 20kms with 350m elevation gain, mix of gravel, off road and sealed roads. A few steep pinches, but all easily manageable on e bikes with medium fitness. Probably the least enjoyable part of the ride was through the Hahndorf township just due to traffic but Dan ensured the group was managed and safe.

Experiences: we stopped at Beerenberg strawberry farm, Udder Delights, Shaw & Smith for a wine flight and finished at The Lane. Each place was a delight. All great experiences with hospitable staff. It was a lot to fit in, but I still felt we spent a generous amount of time and each place and didn’t feel rushed.

For me, the strawberry picking was a highlight (and we enjoyed fresh strawberries for days after!); when we arrived it wasn’t too busy (despite being school holidays) which meant we get to enjoy picking with just our group plus a few others - it was much busier later in the day when we went to pick up our strawberries!

I also particularly loved the Shaw & Smith wines. It’s a beautiful venue with stunning views. Fortunately there was enough room in the bike pannier bags to fit plenty of wine bottles!

In summary: I would absolutely recommend this tour & BikeAbout to anyone of any age who is interested in exploring what Adelaide hills has to offer. It was a perfect way to get out and about and discover some places we wouldn’t have looked into otherwise. Thank you to Dan & the BikeAbout team for a great day and we look forward to trying some of the other tours!

What a fantastic day with Bike about. I had my 50th in SA with a few friends and we were lucky enough to go on this bike tour. It is great to get out and see the landscape, and experience wine and food by ebike. All 5 of us had a brilliant time and would do it again in a flash. Thanks for making it a very enjoyable experience.

Last weekend 11 of us had the fun and pleasure of doing a self ride through the local wineries and gin distillery in Hahndorf. It was amazing!!! Dan was so accommodating and helpful from the get go. We couldn't have asked for a better time. The bikes were easy to ride and in great condition. Highly recommend and will definitely be back to do another ride.
