The view from the lookout during sunset is mesmerising. There is parking space up there. The drive once you turn off from the road is unsealed road and it is a bit rough on normal cars. But that said we drove up there is a 8 seater mini van so if you go slow and easy pretty much any car can do it.

Stokes Hill Lookout, Willow Springs is about 20km north of Wilpena Pound Resort turn-off on the Flinders Ranges Way.
A 2km steep gravel road climb up a hill for a truly spectacular 360° view of the landscape and panoramic views of Wilpena Pound, and also a bronze relief model of Wilpena Pound.
The model is better seen by standing on a timber platform raised 0.5m above the ground.
Unfortunately, on 19/7/24 afternoon there were very strong winds, which spun me around 180° and blew me right off the viewing platform resulting in a very badly broken ankle -> 2 hospital ED visits the next day, an urgent trip home, 11 days in hospital, 2 operations, 12 wks of non-weight bearing and a predicted 12-month recovery to my new "best" function if there are no complications. The surgeon hoped my hobbies were not sporty!

Mesmerising 360 degree view from the hill top. It would be great to see the sunset from there. Good mobile receptions. (Telstra). Some info about the range and ancestors. 3D map of the range and area will give you a good understanding of the area geography. Must see place if you are travelling around.

Great look out, super easy to get to from Wilpena Pound Resort. Amazing sunset spot. Informative signs and there are also wooden platforms to sit on. Short drive in on a gravel road off the main road.

An amazing place to watch the sunset, the moon rise & the sunrise. Just a short drive up an unsealed road to be mesmerised by a 360 degree view. Usually there is a crowd at the top, with tour groups drinking wine & nibbles however there is usually room to park if not at the top on the way up

This lookout was accessible on my Can Am taking it slow. The views going up and on top 360deg and looking back to Wilpena just endless. The roads exciting getting there and onwards are fun on 3wheels
