A great place to visit. There are two lookouts at the top to look into the gorge. The main walk into the gorge is well worth the effort for people comfortable with lots of steps, very uneven surfaces and likely getting your feet wet (depending on recent rain).
There are two main carparks both with picnic tables and toilets. The lower carpark gives you access to the gorge with less steps as a return walk.
It was just beautiful to be walking around and admiring the outdoors here. I will visit again soon

Did the 9 km circuit. An extremely scenic hike with 2 gorge sections and a 4wd bash part. Recommend doing it anti-clockwise which means you’ll have a long gentle downhill rather than a bit of a grind uphill. Take a stick for the small spiders in the gorge and something to swat the flies away as they’ll be your friends in the warmer months.

Absolutely amazing! Such a beautiful walk through the Narrows to the terraces. Definitely recommend this to everyone!
I did this with my small son and we went at a nice slow pace. Just breathtaking ☺️

Nice walk along the 2km track in a loop. It recommends 2 hours but can be done much quicker. I would recommend going down the steps and taking the more gradual incline path back up. Down in the gorge there are great views along the path to explore.

Toilets available at the car park which were clean enough and running water in sinks.

Quite a long windy drive with lots of hills to the carpark which is something to be aware off. 1km of regular dips in the road so make sure you go slow towards the end.

Alligator gorge is in the South Australia 60 min driving from Port Augusta. There will be 12 km unsealed road but not difficult.
In the sunny days the Gorge looks lightening in red. There are two walking loop. Two km return loops take two hours to finish. There are some stairs and the track underneath is level 3-4.

Magnificent short walk with a good climb to finish. Well worth the detour if travelling across country. Such a breathtaking place and friendly route - took us under an hour.

We chose to do the Narrows walk along the creek bed, and it was a great decision.
There was no water in the gorge, which allowed us to complete the walk without getting wet.
The colours of the rocks were amazing and well worth the effort.
