The staff were very friendly not only to us but to our dogs.
I had the lamb shank, and it was so tender it fell off the bone mixed in with the mash it was so heavenly. My wife had the barramundi, and it did not disappoint. Almost converted me to eating the fish instead of the shank.
My 2 daughters had the kids spaghetti napoletana, but they said they didn't like it. Being from an Italian background, it tasted like it was from a can/bottle.
We all had dessert, and none was disappointing. The portion size could have been bigger.
The food was on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for such a remote place. However, a bit more filler options like extra mash and veg would have stopped our hungry bellies.
So close to 5 stars, but still a great place to eat. It was a cold night, and being with dogs, we had to sit outside. Possibly better heating and cafe blinds would have made a bigger difference.

We had a fantastic dinner here in December 24 with a lamb plate for two. We sat outside on the deck as we had our little dog with us. Victor was our very friendly and helpful waiter. The lamb was perfect and came with creamy mash... everything was delicious.
My wife had a lovely sorbet for pudding and I had the lemon thyme cheesecake which was great.
I would say that a visit to the area is not complete unless you visit this restaurant.

This is an excellent restaurant. The fact that first class meals are served when you are a long way from anywhere is a testament to the skill and dedication of the all the staff at the restaurant. I ate at the restaurant every night of my four day stay and every meal was the quality you would expect in central Melbourne. Like a lot of places there appeared to be a shortage of staff but those on the floor did an admirable job of serving everyone. Michela deserves special mention and looked after me beautifully.

Well you can't get better atmosphere than when you are inside eating and outside there is a cyclonic wind, driving rain a b d hail. Our food was excellent and the two staff need 6 star awards for keeping it together.

It’s our go to restaurant when we are up in the Flinders. Great range of meals (goat, lamb, steak, fish) and extensive range of beverage. It’s great to watch the sunset from the verandah as the rambles change colour and then head inside to the fire.
