People are quick to criticise but not quick to help. The SES is an organisation primarily staffed by volunteers that give their time freely for the betterment of their community. There are not enough people like that to go around, so when their services are required, they can be easily stretched. These people play an important role in the community and they deserve our support.

I had to call the Bathurst SES on Friday to come out to do an emergency temporary fix on my leaking roof, which was allowing a slow drip to enter my front room. I am taking it easy after a back injury so going up a ladder to do that myself, was out of the question.
They were prompt and were here in a hour from me ringing the SES number and the two gentleman did their very best to fix the problem temporarily, until it can be fixed permanently. They covered the area with plastic and tied it down securely. There were here quite some time and gave me some very good advice. Even though the drip is still leaking into the room affected, the size and duration of it is less (perhaps there is still a build up of water there from previous rain, and or it is from dew on the roof each morning which is still causing the drip) they did what they could to try and temporally fix the problem and I would like to thank them and the SES phone operator publicly via this review for their efforts. The guys told me that it may be that what they have done may not stop the drip, but in my opinion their efforts were definitely a step in the right direction.
