If you're looking for a contemporary restaurant in the Hurstville area that offers modern Australian cuisine, look no further than this place. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, a modern and spacious dining area, and well-arranged tables and chairs. All the food we ordered was highly handcrafted, packed with flavuor, and beautifully presented. Everything was spot on and the service was impeccable. If you dine here, make sure to save room for dessert because they are absolutely jaw-dropping. Highly recommended

I am just giving honest review from my own experience.

The food is very nice, packed with flavours and I love the way they are creative with their food. Desserts are mind blowing highly recommended the lemon, they definitely create a perfect balance there.

the service was something that ruined our experience tho. We had to wait 30 mins or more from when we finished Entree to get our mains only for them to come out cold. And there were only 2 other tables besides us.

The service was excellent by every staff member so kudos to the management.

Steak Tartare was as good as any French restaurant and although it did not have any crackers to compliment it, there were tiny fried potatoes which made up for the texture and the flavour was spot on with a nice tang.

The Murray Cod was cooked perfectly with a nice crisp skin, soft delicate mussels and beurre blanc sauce.

The pork dish was very generous in size and in fact all main dishes were much bigger than restaurants of this standard which was a very nice surprise to everyone. The Pork was tender match with well cooked condiments of green apple, onion and nice jus.

The duck was tender and with a hibiscus jus which was not too sweet and nicely balanced.

The wagyu rump had a very nice beef flavour synonymous with well aged steaks but was surprisingly chewy but nevertheless addictive. The sauce had a truffle oil flavour.

The desserts were top notch as as good as anything you will find in a fine dining restaurant, especially ‘The Lemon’ which was like a light cheesecake flavour along with a nice filling and would dare say is better their signature ‘The Hatch’. Their interpretation of the Black Forest was also delightful.

The place was super busy which was well deserved. The service was excellent throughout the night where staff were attentive, friendly and had some personality. Would happily come back as a local.

Wow! Impressive venue and great food. We’ve already had the pleasure of dining here twice because it is that nice. The food was excellent, we opted for a selection of different dishes to share, we couldn’t fault anything. The cocktails were delicious! Can’t wait to come back to try more!

Food was good, however the service was terrible. Firstly, after finishing our entrees we waited over 40minutes for our mains to come and the table next to us which was seated 30 mins after us got their mains before us. Secondly, there was a large cockroach on the wall right behind at eye level where I was seated which I had to switch seats with my partner & was also witnessed by the neighboring table. I had told the waiter and he laughed and made me repeat myself, I repeated it and he completely disregarded this and never did anything about the cockroach however this sight really makes me wonder about the cleanliness of this restaurant. I enjoyed the food but I would not be recommending this as poor service definitely left a sour taste.

Please disregard any negative reviews. This establishment is truly remarkable!

From the moment of our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the exceptionally helpful and accommodating staff. The interior design was stunning, and the food was absolutely decadent.

The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the out-of-this-world Wagyu beef, which had been aged in chocolate. The staff ensured a seamless transition between courses, and everything was served promptly.

The Mandarin Palace cocktail is a must-try, and the dried mandarin combination on top is reminiscent of sweet honeycomb.

This establishment is highly recommended for special events, occasions, and milestones.

We look forward to returning to HATCH in the near future.

Maybe 4.5... overall. Food was pretty good, cocktails are great too, albiet a bit pricey. The $30 tiny morsel of caviar cornetto seems excessive, but I'm glad I tried it. Was my favorite bite all evening. The lion dance atmosphere was great for cny. Service was mixed, there's a lot of it, and food arrives quick. Some staff are friendlier than others that gave off rushed vibes. Overall a good addition to hurstville.

We were bewildered how The Hatch restaurant nestled in the Humphrey Hotel were awarded one hat!

Do not believe the reviews, we did and were expecting a sensational culinary experience, but our experience left us extremely disappointed with the averagely presented food not worthy of one hat!

We deliberated over which dishes to choose with our waiter, who encouraged us to go with the set menu for two. Promising to change out dishes to ones we preferred , then to backdown on that offer.

Where do I start? Not worth the $300 we paid, as the price did not reflect expected quality, our disappointment and dissatisfaction intensified with every ensuing dish!

All starter meals arrived at once, even before we received our drinks. Our first alarm bell! What was the rush?

We then asked the waiter to ensure they slow down between dishes, which didn’t happen as the main meals arrived in the same fashion. We were feeling very much as though we were in a Chinese restaurant !

The only two dishes which were palatable were the Tuna Tartare and Ricotta Gnocchi. Everything other dish either lacked flavour, was tough or poorly cooked.

STARTERS

SESAME & HONEY FOCACCIA - was definitely not focaccia but some kind of imposter Asian sweet bread. It was actually tasty- just was not focaccia!!

BURRATA dish was sickly sweet.

GRILLED HOKKAIDO SCALLOPS were covered with breadcrumbs, served in their shell with little other flavours evident and dry.

TUNA TARTARE - was flavourful, although unnecessarily served in a baked dessert cup.

MAINS

MURRAY COD with mussels- The green lipped mussels were as their reputation -rubbery and flavourless! At least the cod was cooked well.

TAJIMA RUMP - served medium rare how we like it and we were hopeful that every piece we sample it would be better, but sadly every piece was chewy and tough.

RICOTTA GNOCCHI - the hero on the night! Tasty tender morsels.

At the end of our experience the waiter asked how everything was and we answered ‘surprisingly terrible’, to which his response was ‘Thank you’ and was not interested in why? We actually asked if he understood what we were saying! He definitely understood, but continued saying thank you on repeat.

Will we be back? Definitely NO!
