Luxury on steroids - awesome
We went to Antartica via Santiago.
Getting there does require flying to Santiago and then to Porta Williams. Part of the package is an overnight stay in Santiago at the Mandarin hotel. This was five star and like being in an exclusive resort.
It’s a bit of a pain getting into room and paperwork to board ship but worth it. We went to main reception and got our room more quickly than waiting in the silversea line( haha).
It took most of a morning getting to the ship we arrived around 3 pm. On board we were handed a glass of champagne and that set the scene for what was an extraordinary and epic expedition cruise.
We met our butler and got into our cabin. We choose middle of the ship on deck 7 with a balcony.
The ship has four restaurants and two lounge areas a theatre for enrichment talks about wildlife and presentations( note drinks on hand here too).
Food across the ship excellent.
There is trivia, music and talks. The crew are friendly and the expedition leader we had Michael awesome, he really made a different to the program which is flexible depending on weather and conditions. We went out twice a day on zodiac cruise and a landing onshore.
Wildlife everywhere from birds, whales, penguins and sea lions you will definitely be close up to see the wildlife.
We felt very safe on our excursions as the staff ratio very high and all sites checked out before the landing by staff and pathways indicated. Staff on hand along the pathways to help those less mobile and take photos.
We met the captain and crew at two cocktail parties.
This was not a cheap holiday but absolutely unforgettable.
Highly recommend Silversea.
Love your local guide-M❤️

Silver Blunder to Antarctica 28 January 2024
We feel that had we known that booking 'The Bridge' trip during January was at such a high risk we would not have booked it, and Silversea should bear major responsibility having marketed an itinerary and a product that is simply not dependable or reliable. Silversea ground services and logistics were poor, made mistakes and the staff were unable to confront the changing circumstances openly and honestly. Finally on board The Endeavour, after a 60 hour delay, we were very disappointed that the dining experiences, which should have been a memorable highlight of our Silversea Cruise, were well below any reasonable expectations that we initially had hoped for, due to the inability of Silversea to reprovision the Ship during the turnaround on King George Island. Post Cruise, a detailed and polite letter was sent to Silversea but was met with trite and generic responses. Identification of systemic failures by guests should not be met by Silversea management holding their ‘all care but no responsibility attitude’. The only saving grace was that the expedition team were superb, but only able to accomplish 11 out of the marketed and expected 17 landing sites/excursions, thus saying - the trip was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Over marketed, over priced and under delivered - Buyer Beware

No idea of customer service, and don't expect to pay what they advertise ... an addtional $6000 surcharge on top of upgraded flight fare of $9000 is outrageous.

Refused us boarding because we only had a digital copy of our passport plus drivers license on a cruise that did not leave australia. No customs involved as was not required. It was just a head office rule. 9 of us in total left to fend for ourselves at Darwin port at 11pm. Flights back to sydney cost $1700 each economy and had to wait a couple of days to get one. Hotels hideously expensive. Out of pocket $24000 for the cruise for two of us plus over $6000 in Darwin expenses. We suggested getting our passports flown up and joining the ship in Wyndham a few days later, but this was rejected by the ships hotel manager

We booked a “door to door” cruise with Silversea last October. After paying we noticed two problems.
First our cruise departed Hong Kong on March 14 so the door to door package included 1 night in a Hong Kong hotel ie night of March 13. Only problem was Silversea booked our flight into Hong Kong for March 12. So essentially a night missing. Trying to get this fixed was a nightmare and I think our travel agent had to pay for the additional night.
Second problem was at the end. Ship docks in Tokyo at 7 am and disembarkment around 8 or 9. Our flight home, booked by Silversea was at 10pm. When we tried to find out what we would do for 14 hours we were stonewalled. After 10 days were we told we would be dropped at airport at 9 am. After much angst we were offered an 8 hour tour but still dropped at airport at 4pm, 3 hours before checkin opens.
Still trying to sort this out but suffice to say this is not is expected of a 5 star cruise line.

Will never book door to door again and unlikely to book Silversea.

I made a request for a quote for a cruise and received it pretty quickly. It was dated 30/10 with request for deposit due
5/11. Received a request at 6.30 pm the next day from a sales consultant asking me to pay by 1/11 or the price might change. Then on 1/11 another call to pay by midday or cabin will be sold (no other comparable available) I then told Sales Consultant that I was not impressed at way of doing business to which he replied. Booking cancelled and hung up.
Suggest to Silverseas management that this is perhaps not the best way to handle potential
customers. I certainly would not be bothered with them again and will make sure friends are advised this us the way they handle customers .

We had wonderful, professional service by a senior staff member leading up to our booking which we couldn’t fault.

However when he was on annual leave and after we had paid in full, Silversea’s service was abysmal. In fact non existent.

We’ve had to phone numerous times and on every occasion we were placed on hold. We never managed to reach a consultant

Silverseas operates similar to an off shore call centre and not a luxury travel company.
Don’t expect to get through to their office and should you choose to leave your number don’t expect their team to return your call.
Today I was on hold for over 35 minutes before ending the call
We thought that if we directly phoned the New South Wales manager’s mobile we’d at least get to speak with a senior representative.
We’re still waiting on his call.
What started out as a simple booking request has become a frustrating, time consuming disappointment
