Phenomenal day hiking the Grand Canyon with Paul, Lora and my husband! I'm from Arizona where the other Grand Canyon is located so trust me when I say this experience was unique! Our fantastic guides encouraged us to hike at our own pace and were so generous in sharing their knowledgeable. We walked through waterfalls and felt the experience of the rain forest. We appreciated the orientation to Katoomba and seeing the 3 sisters, after our hike. I hiked in my gym shoes but would have liked my hiking boots. It was not scary or treacherous but it was strenuous. We took the train from Sydney to and from Katoomba, and even saw a kangaroo out the window on our way back to Sydney! We highly recommend this trip!

We had an amazing private tour of the Blue Mountains with Beyond the Blacktop tours. Our tour guide Russ was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and listened carefully to what we needed. He designed the tour so we could experience some breathtaking views of the mountains away from the typical tourist hotspots. We were even able to see some original aboriginal markings on a site that is not recorded on any maps.
I was a bit concerned about my mobility but Russ made sure he selected routes that did not involve too much walking. It was an amazing, unforgettable day thanks to Russ and Paul for making this happen!

What an incredible way to experience the Blue Mountains!
Paul is without a doubt the friendliest and most relaxed tour guide we've ever come across, we felt instantly comfortable with him. He was extremely considerate of our needs - giving us options for places to visit and allowing us to take our time to enjoy the scenery without feeling pressured to rush to the next spot. Paul is also incredibly knowledgeable about both the natural and human history of the area, and the local fauna and flora, and he is up to date with the accessibility of other local tracks in case you were planning on exploring further. He took us to a few hidden gems during our trip that weren't swamped with other people, and that we'd never have known about without a local like Paul showing us.
Getting to ride around in an army truck was an added bonus! It's well maintained and felt very safe, even on the highway. The experience of enjoying the fresh air whilst driving around is second to none.
I couldn't recommend Beyond The Blacktop Adventure Tours more highly. We are already thinking about our next trip with them!

Fantastic tour of the Blue Mountains with Paul and Steph in Wombat. Very safe and comfortable ride in their army truck. Went to the most amazing viewpoints where we could linger and soak up the unspoilt bush away from the more crowded tourist hotspots. Paul kindly took some fab photos of us as lasting memories. Would thoroughly recommend, well worth the cost.

I made the best decision booking this tour, because I don't like tours- I'm talking about the big ones that go to the usual touristy spots.
If you're like me and prefer small group trips that go beyond the run of the mill commercial tourist sights , with a tour guide that makes you feel like you're with a friend having a great day out, then don't hesitate to book this tour!!

Leon our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating adapting our tour to ensure we all got the best experience visiting stunning locations that hubby and I would never have found driving ourselves.

We were one of 2 couples on the tour with different physical abilities, Leon made sure we all got to trek to sights suitable for our ability.

Added bonus, Leon is a great photographer! He patiently accommodated us with being our photographer to capture us with spectacular backdrops of the stunning mountain ranges and rainforests, selfies just dont capture the vistas.

Now we have beautiful memory pics where we visited ,of the mountains, waterfalls, rainforests vistas, and pics of us in the midst of our stunning Australian landscapes. A memorable day on many levels , and I look forward to rebooking another tour when we revisit Katoomba.

The open air ex-army truck was an added bonus for transport allowing uninterrupted views as we travelled the cliff roads, a perfect tour✨️🙏🏻👌

We all had the best time on this tour. Went on the tour for four people and the 4wd was very comfortable to ride in. The insights and history given was exceptional on the sights and places taken to. The morning started off a bit foggy with rain but Paul adjusted the usual way he would do the tour to make sure we got the best of the situation Mother Nature dished up, you also get to stay away from the normal noise of tourists and get to enjoy the quietness of the Blue Mountains. Paul is so proud and passionate to show you what he sees on a daily basis.
It is great to see someone so passionate about the place he lives and enjoys is willing to share his passion about the area with others.
