By looking at Map, you might just see it as ordinary beach, which can be found anywhere around Australia, but it's much more unique. On one side, you're surrounded by dunes that make you feel like you're in the Sahara Desert. Turn around, and you have a stunning view of the ocean.

It was an amazing place and I had an amazing time. It really was quite a long beach and it was very fun driving 4x4 across it. On a less windy day we even put down our mat on the ground and had a small picnic. Very nice spot and highly recommend. However don't swim here, 2 people drowned when I was here. Very rough ocean, very unpredictable currents.
P.S. just had to get a beach entry permit from the Petrol Pump down the road.

Great place to rest you 4wd skills. 30 k's of beach from Birubi beach to Stockton. Pretty easy except entry and exit is soft.

Just follow the track for a while and you find yourself on the beach. There's no shade so just head to the air down point near the beach entry.

Access permit required which can be obtained from Port Stephens Visitor Information Centre, 60 Victoria Parade, Nelson bay

First time using the 4WD access here at Anna Bay. Lots of fun driving down the beach with our 4WD. Had to rescue a Range Rover who got stuck on the dunes , very easy here to do this if you are not prepared.

We walked in on foot via the Gan Gan road entrance since we don't have a 4WD. There were a bunch of derelect building that looks like from a post nuclear war era. A little further down there were some nice tall sand dunes. My son has fun running around and rolling off the dunes. A interesting place that is in need of redevelopment.
