You pay for the Sanctuary Tour online and can pick your price based on what you can afford/are willing to give. We didn't pay the minimum ($10p/p) but I do wish I could have afforded to pay more. These volunteers are doing amazing work to preserve and restore native wildlife to the area.
It was still light when we arrived so we took a walk up to look at the dam and see how the water scheme worked back in it's heyday.
We could see the animals beginning to come out as we headed back to the tour vehicle. The vehicle is open and seats about 14 people. You take a 4km drive around a part of the sanctuary and the driver for the night fills you in on the animals, history and their on going work with monitoring, breeding, and pest control.
We saw a lot of Woylies/Woyli (Noongar) also known as a Brush-tailed Bettong, Southern Brown Bandicoot (Quenda/Kwenda), and a little Common Brushtail Possum.
It was a great tour, kid friendly and I am happy to recommend it to anyone. It would be suitable for anyone who is able to step up and sit in a golf cart.
Tours are scheduled for every Saturday night. Take something warm to wear if the weather is cooler, as you are out in the dark.
Huge thanks to the volunteers from the Narembeen area who have made this such a huge success.
