My time with Mint Tours in Asahikawa was downright amazing. Jarred and Ris, the awesome duo in charge, put together a crew that turned this snowboard trip into the adventure of a lifetime. We had top-notch guides, filmmakers, and photographers who made sure every detail was spot on.

The trip wasn't just about riding; it was a whole experience. The hosts took care of everything – from finding the coolest spots to ride, sorting out transportation, guiding us through the best runs, to organizing delicious dinners and epic parties. And yes, they even had secret powder runs that only the insiders knew about, adding that extra thrill.

Jarred and Ris, being industry leaders, attracted the best people, including pro-snowboarders like Hana Beaman, Joey Fava, Albin “Abbe” Hjellström, Kaleah Opal, and legends like Ingemar Backman, Todd Richards, and Chad Otterstrom. Their presence elevated the trip beyond imagination, creating unforgettable memories. This is what true snowboard culture is about: enjoying the ride with awesome people.

I'm stoked to have been part of this laid-back and guest-focused experience. Looking forward to more Mint Tours adventures in the future. This wasn't just a trip; it was Mint Tours showing us how it's done in every aspect of the snowboarding adventure.

Thanks
Michal

Niseko Freeride!
It was the most enjoyable snowboard tour I've ever been on. We were guided by Greg, a wonderful person who had extensive knowledge of the Niseko region, and knew exactly where to go for the best JaPow.

My favorite part of the tour was that Greg, despite being a pro snowboarder for more than 30 years, wasn't a show-off and always focused on making sure we had a good time and the finest runs.

The accommodations are excellent, and everything is handled with professionalism and friendliness.

Highly recommended, our trip included 3 locations across New Zealand and was plan and executed with precision. Jared and Ris go above and beyond to accommodate their clients.

My whole experience with Mint tours was Great. From initially booking the trip, discussing board and gear recommendations with Jarred all the way through to being dropped off back to the airport by our guides.

Our guides knew the area like the back of their hand and we scored fresh runs until the end of the day every day. Our guides were super professional, and super experienced in guiding and in the sport of snowboarding.

110% would recommend Mint! So much so I’m already in the process of booking my next trip

I fractured 2 ribs on the second run of the second day of snowboarding and still managed to have the best week of snowboarding in my life so far.

The rib thing was a major bummer and I wouldn't recommend anyone do that, but I do feel like it helps to inform you how amazing this trip is if you are reading these reviews to figure out if you want to go or not. If you are at all interested and you are good at snowboarding, you should do it.

I would love to gatekeep this company and this trip for myself and try to hide the fact that they exist so that I can secure a spot on it every chance I get from now until the day I die, but it would be wrong of me to do that to Mint and to the possible future Mint Tour enjoyer. You deserve to experience the week that I just got back from in Japan with the Mint Tours team.

I completely missed out on more than half of the second day of riding, the entire third day of riding, and was riding with a moderate to severe amount of pain for days four and five and it was still the best trip of my life. And I've had some pretty great snowboarding trips in my life. I would go even further to say that it was just flat out the best week of my life.

Our guide, Chad Otterstrom, was awesome in every way a person can be, and showed us a great time on hill and off. Learned a lot from him about waxing techniques and snowboarding and life. Most notably: “Turning is a sign of fear, and powder is for the weak.” He will somehow simultaneously lead you and follow you through the thickest of forests and the deepest of powder so that you are able to get fresh tracks but also not feel lost. I'm not sure how he does it, but it was awesome. It's like you are following him, but he is behind you. Oh wait, I just figured it out. It's like that pottery scene from Ghost with Patrick Swayze. But Chad is alive, and you are both snowboarding. Hope that clears things up for you.

Our other guide/videographer/driver, Nicole Hawke, was the perfect complement to Chad’s style. Chad was able to bring the group’s energy up and make us feel invincible and capable, while Nicole brought the much needed and deserved ego check that we all needed to maintain a healthy balance. Her wit, music choices for car rides, helpfulness, and talent behind the lens were all a treat to behold. The pictures and videos she gets on the trip are incredible. I would very much like the pictures she took of me to be tattooed onto the inside of my eyelids in the least narcissistic way I can say that. I can remember the moments that she took some of the pictures and I am certain I didn't look as good as she made me look. Again, there is some kind of magic at play there that I don't understand.

To reiterate. Amazing times were had, you should definitely book a trip with Mint. But please wait like 2 or 3 days to book so that I can grab a spot first. It's only fair, I called dibs. Also, I want to experience the full thing without some broken ribs and shattered confidence. Can you image the review I would've left if I experienced the full week with all of my ribs intact and no pain? Yeesh. I would've found the word limit on this review box.

Oh yeah, and P.S. I didn't know that I had broken any ribs until I got back home and went to get an x-ray. While I was on the trip, I had thought that at the absolute worst I had maybe bruised a rib. I was in pain but I was able to move alright, and I felt confident that I could still ride. AND, more importantly, I felt that I could still be of use if there was an emergency situation involving another member of my group.

Go up
