Andrew and his outstanding team at Diamantina Touring provide the most extraordinary opportunity for people to explore the wild and remote parts of Australia. Learning about the history, the people, the flora and fauna from highly knowledgable people. These expeditions can be challenging, but Andrew and his team, with their decades of remote travel experience, make them safe and enjoyable. And then there is the food! The most extraordinary dishes that would be outstanding in a Melbourne restaurant are prepared in the bush over open fires - it is a skill beyond parallel. I can't recommend Diamantina Touring highly enough and I am looking forward to my third trip with them in 2024.

Every Australian should experience outback touring. Andrew's tours take you to remote Australia with camping under the stars and sitting around the campfire. The sunrise and sunset are really special and stars fill the sky at night. The food is first class and the stretchers comfortable. The crew handle most of the "heavy lifting" and the tours are well kitted out to manage travelling in the outback. Photos are from the Burke and Wills trip and the Canning Stock Route trip.

I would highly recommend an outback adventure and experience 'extraordinaire' with the Diamantina Touring Company, having recently done their Canning Stock Route trip in July 2023.

Andrew Dwyer, the expedition leader and owner of the company has 30 years experience of running these trips through remote areas of Australia.... and creates once in a lifetime experiences for his passengers.

Andrew entertained us with stories of the early explorers by day as we travelled through the bush and then wined and dined us under the stars each evening with his gourmet creations cooked over the campfire.

The tour was very well organised, with modern 4WD vehicles and experienced drivers; and it was obvious that individual and group safety was always of paramount concern to Andrew.

The country that we travelled through along the Tanami, the Canning and the Gunbarrel was ever changing and diverse .... sand dunes, claypans and swales, sandstone plateaus, canyons, oases in the desert and the occasional creek crossing.

A trip such as this, camping in a swag under the stars, is a great way to spend time in the outback, in the safe hands of an experienced tour leader.

I would highly recommend this company, and have already booked my next adventure with them in 2024.

After four outback trips with Diamantina, I'm coming back for more! One way I assess an organisation is how they handle problems - on one trip to the Western Desert we were blocked by floods and road closures. Andrew found us the only shelter for hundreds of km where we holed up of 6 days until the roads opened. We had the usual outstanding food and entertainment even though we were restricted by the weather. Ultimately, it was great fun!

Edit:
I was on Diamantina's last Bindibu Country Trip, and what a great trip it was! So glad, I finally 'made' it. Meeting family members of the Pintubi Nine was a special experience indeed and I loved traveling on very remote, almost overgrown desert tracks in Western Australia. This remoteness was very special.
As on previous trips, catering and crew were outstanding.
Bindibu was another five-star trip.

Wishing the Diamantina crew and Andrew the very best for a well-deserved 'retirement', that's already been lined up and will keep Andrew and his family busy.

Thank you so much for the memories!

Cheers,
Cecilia

My first ever visit to the Australian outback. I was wrong to think the desert was just sand, central Australia is so diverse and there was never a dull moment. Andrews team was first class and made my first trip one to remember. Don't think you will be staying in camping reserves; every night was sheer wilderness and remote. And to finish each days travels came Andrews amazing meals cooked on site. I will be returning because there is so much more to see and do there. The Diamantina team made this such a special trip, thank you.

Diamantina Touring Company.... what more needs to be said. I did my first trip with them back in 2005, crossing the Simpson Desert. Loved it. The swags, the food, the no responsibilities, the no need for a watch. Since then I have travelled with them numerous times, & always enjoyed myself, in fact my husband's retirement gift was a trip down the Canning Stock Route in 2018. Although I'd done it before with Andrew, this experience was completely different, as each trip is. I can't say anything bad, as I've never had a bad trip with them yet.

I have been on a number of Diamantina tours, often to remote places. One of the important things is that management was always careful to have a back-up plan in case things had to be changed. The Australian outback is a confroting place and it was good to know that Diamantina always looked after us. The food was awesome and the evening meal always brilliant. You had to take the camera with you wherever you were and use it. It was a diary in pictures. Take a careful look at their program, there is always something interesting. The evening camp site was often noteworthy and the morning coffee a must. Think about it and enjoy!
