The experience, the animals, and the staff were amazing.
The tour was a great balance of seeing the platypus, taking photos, and learning about the animals, their native habitat, and the work done by the Platypus House.
I HIGHLY recommend the echidna meet and greet. The echidnas come right up to you and completely invade your personal space to get food - it's wonderful!
Everyone was so lovely and the team was super accommodating when my partner and I were xomplere idiots and needed to change our tour time twice on the day of our visit.
I never leave reviews but these guys were so amazing I felt I had to!

The staff at the “Platypus House” are very help, friendly and attentive. They even recommended that we take the cheaper option for the tour as it can save us some money. Normally, you would have to wait for the tour to start, however for me, it started immediately as there was no one else there. However, there was a big group when I came out after the tour had ended. The tour guide was simply wonderful and clearly enjoys her job there. Big thanks to Susie for being a spectacular guide! In the span of 45 minutes, you learn a lot about the platypuses and echidnas, and facts that you didn’t even know about. For the echidnas, they can get real close and sometimes chew on your shoe lace, however they are really friendly so long as you don’t run after them or pick them up. You can a real close photo of the echidnas for a more personal experience. Do check out the souvenirs that they have there for sale! Overall, it is definitely in one of my highlights of my trip here in Australia!

The staff at Platypus House are very friendly, and the tour guide is knowledgeable, providing a lot of interesting information about the platypus and other monotremes. During the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to see several platypuses in tanks, which is fascinating.

The highlight of the tour is definitely the monotreme encounter. The group is seated on the floor, and the monotremes roam freely around the area. It is crucial to remain absolutely still and not touch the monotremes. You can take photos and videos, but be sure to sit quietly. These adorable creatures walk around you, making for an unforgettable experience. This part of the tour is undoubtedly the highlight and worth every moment.

There is plenty of parking available outside, across the bridge, making it convenient to visit. Overall, Platypus House offers an engaging and memorable experience that is well worth the visit.

highly recommend.

Wow what an amazing way to get up and close to these incredible creatures. Definitely a must do in tassie! It’s only 1 hr away from Devonport so we did it before we jumped back on the boat to Melbourne.
Photos don’t do it justice. It was such a fun experience!
