We spent Easter in the Victorian High Country with 4x4 Explore, hosted by Shane and Heather. We had a fantastic time, exposed to challenging tracks, unlocking breathtaking views. Shane and Heather's organisation was spot on, with interesting historical information on the Wonnagatta Valley and Grant gold mining area. Although some of the driving was challenging, we felt safe and in control the entire weekend, due to Shane and Heather's preparation and guidance. I would thoroughly recommend these guys if you are after a guided 4x4 experience.

The 4x4 tag-a-long tour scheduled for Abercrombie River in June had to be abandoned on the day of departure due to sustained heavy rain closing the National Park. Instead of cancelling the tour, Fid managed to change the location to NSW/VIC High Country within 24hrs to ensure it went ahead. Nothing was too much trouble and Fid was extremely accommodating and agile the entire period. I cannot speak highly enough of his professionalism, knowledge of the tracks we went on and the local country, his knowledge of my vehicle to teach me how to better use the various settings and controls for low-range etc, river crossings and recovery techniques. Fid was very patient, detailed and ensured our needs were first and foremost. I would have no hesitation to recommend going on Fid's tours and we will be signing up for another one in the future. I cannot fault the long weekend trip and all the organisation and leading of it.

Have just returned from an extremely well run trip into the Victorian High Country. Fid is a natural leader, who is able to support all skill levels and provide knowledge and advice in a wide variety of topics - from tyre and suspension advice, to recovery techniques (he ran a couple of informal sessions on use of winches, snatch straps etc that left us all much more confident in our ability).
He even cooked a couple of (to die for) dampers sharing his technique with all.
I highly recommend a trip with 4x4 Explore, knowing that Fid will bring it all together himself - you won't get a 'rostered trip lead' from a larger company.

This was my second trip with these guys, awesome experience and very professional.
Fid (Shane) led great drives through some beautiful country and tested us all to our limits. Even when I thought the terrain and track was too difficult, Fid’s experience and calm explanation/instruction of what to do and how to handle each stage made the drive so enjoyable and I was able to overcome my hesitance and saw/enjoyed even more spectacular scenery that I would have otherwise missed.
Shane and his team relate to all ages and abilities and made both my 17yo daughter and 10yo son feel very welcome and included in the trip.
Shane took the time to research and teach us local history around the area. Very knowledgeable.
The highlight of the trip for me was Shane teaching me how too and letting me recover a bogged patrol (from another group who asked us for help).
Feel so much more confident after what I learned and can’t wait for the next opportunity to camp with these guys again.
Thanks Shane and team!!

The learning curve can be steep when you start exploring a new hobby or recreational activity and 4 wheel driving is no exception. There is simply no better method to pick up the basics (or even for the experienced traveller to refine their techniques) than to travel with a well-equipped and experienced mentor.

We have travelled with Heather and Shane a few times now and the friendliness, skills and professionalism they demonstrate is simply superb.

If you have a 4WD and haven't ventured off the tarmac yet, what are you waiting for? Get in touch and tag along - you'll have a great time, learn a lot and come away with increased confidence as well as an appreciation for this beautiful country we are blessed to live in.

We went on the Abercrombie National Park tag along over three days. It was the best three days camping and 4wd we have ever had. Our experience with 4wd is limited and over the weekend we learnt so much. The reason we chose this trip was so we could learn to tow off road in a safe and confident manor. Very few companies offer towing. We learnt this and much more. I would advise anyone either beginners or experienced with 4WD to attend any of the trips offered. Both Fid and Cam's knowledge was invaluable to us. We now feel much more confident to explore this beautiful county of ours in more depth.
