I recently trekked the sandakan death march with wild spirit adventures.this was a fantastic trek,I enjoyed every second of it & highly recommend it.
However.there are a few recommendations I have that will make this incredible trek even better.
Firstly.they should send out the paperwork earlier.I received mine 2 months before the trek.by then,all the good flights were taken & I had to settle for dregs (it took me 32 hours to get to sandakan)
And I received the packing list 4 days before the trek.before that i was given a Kokoda packing list(most of the items on that list are not needed)
Secondly.none of the trekkers knew we were going to a formal dinner with dignitaries.so,none of us packed suitable clothes (we all felt daggy dressed in our hiking clothes at a formal dinner)
Lastly.we were at a 1945 sandakan memorial but we were given 1942 Kokoda shirts.
We all felt like idiots wearing Kokoda shirts to a sandakan memorial.
Maybe a sandakan shirt with a collar will be a good idea for dinner & memorial.
Regardless.I highly recommend this trek & trekking company and I will definitely be trekking with them again.
