Great spot for an overnight/short stay in Mitchell. Plenty of space for large RV's and grassy areas for tents. They provide courtesy buses into town too if you need it. Plenty of birdlife. There are BBQ's and under cover picnic tables. There is water and public toilets. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I thought that the toilets could do with a really good clean.

Free camp near Mitchell. Very large area, nice waterfront camps. Noise wasn't an issue. Short drive to Mitchell and the artesian pool.

We have camped here a few times now on our trips. Great spot beside the river and weir. Easy walk into town. Has toilets and water to top up your vans. Also, a Playground for the kiddies.

Mitchell sure set the standard for camping in county towns as far as I’m concerned. With perfect well maintained flat grounds and clean toilets why wouldn’t you stay and spend money in this town. A huge thanks to the shire and community of Mitchell. Oh and only 2mins drive to town and Telstra reception available at the campsite.

Great free camp with clean toilets and water tap. Lots of campers there but there is a lot of space so people spread out. Lots of places to camp along the edges. Drive to town was easy and also a walking trail about 4km along the river to town. It was quiet at night and felt safe. You could hear the road trains on the highway late at night. There are sprinklers in the green grass park are near the toilets that clicked on at 12:45am so it was a wet night for a tent. Next night I just stayed further down the way in the middle open area which worked well. Up early with the hot sun.

Nice place to camp. We got an awesome spot on the river. No yabbies. Caught some carp and small native fish. Quiet. Plenty of campers but easy to get a spot to camp.
