Tom is a very easy going chap. Gets you organised well on the boat. We fished 4 up. We all got a go at realling in the mackerel. Even for those at haven't done this Tom was right there helping. Bait was always ready the fish where taken off quickly and had you rebaited to catch another. To top it off Tom filleted all the fish. Thanks for a great trip. May see you next year

Can't beat local knowledge Tom is up there, the conditions weren't favourable but we still got a couple of solid Jack's. Tom is a good fisherman and certainly reasonable prices for a barra guide. Would definitely jump aboard again. Cheers Tom ?

A great afternoon fishing on the river. Tom knows his stuff! We had so many bites and managed to catch some delicious trevally, stickle fish and biddies!
After hearing Tom’s hunting and camping adventures, we know we want to come back for more exploring.
Two very happy amateurs who now feel like pros! Thank you Tom!

Best charter I’ve been on!
Tom is a great bloke and knows how to get on to the fish.
Even when it slowed down, he was quick to move to another spot and find the fish.
Went home with lots of nannygai , coral trout, and emperor!
Will be booking again soon

Tom provided a great days fishing, heaps of quality fish, highly recommended. Next time l am in Cooktown, l will be booking a trip. Tom also gave me heaps of tips and at the end of the trip, filleted the fish. It was a great day

After booking the trip of a lifetime almost 3 years ago and COVID continually knocking us out.

we did the trip.

Tom took us for 3 days out wide and 1 day in the sooty grunters on skinny water.

A total of 4 days with varied action the entire time.

He made sure everyone was comfortable and made sure everyone had an absolute blast.

Tom gets five stars.
if I could give the bloke 6 I would.

Unbelievable! Booked to join a fishing charter with Cooktown Barra Charters in the first week of June for a charter on 21 July. Then booked and paid for accommodation in Cooktown and travelling from Brisbane for that date. Spoke to Tom on 18 July to confirm charter and all was confirmed. Then called by Tom late on 19 July to be advised that he had overbooked or got a better charter and cancelling my spot on the charter. UNBELIEVABLE!!! No apology, just an offer for another day and time when I would not and could not be in Cooktown. Deserves zero stars. In June I could have booked with another Cooktown fishing charter and wish I had. But with just 2 days notice, there were no options to secure a replacement charter. INEXCUSABLE!!! So, everyone beware, your charter with Tom and Cooktown Barra Charters is never confirmed until you step onto the boat. I will look elsewhere in future.

What a superb charter. The skipper Tom couldn't be more helpful, skillful nor knowledgeable of the fishing reafs off Cooktown. A very fair price for the full day with a heap of quality fish being caught. With a maximum of 4 fishing, Tom caters for all levels, with his vast knowledge turned us all into skiled fishers, each catching a heap. Thanks for the great day Tom.
